Have you ever heard of Celiac Disease?

Celiac Disease is an intestinal disorder in which a person has a severe genetic intolerance to gluten. Gluten is the sticky protein found in foods containing oats, barley, wheat, and rye. Many Americans also suffer from wheat allergies and a good percentage of those people have a severe intolerance to gluten. The only treatment for this disease is for a person to maintain a Gluten Free diet which involves a change in lifestyle, reading many labels and using good resources like the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness.

The NFCA's is a dedicated organization working to raise awareness and funding for celiac disease that will advance research, education and screening. Part of this goal is to improve the quality of the life of children and adults affected by this autoimmune disease through grant making and direct programming. wheatfreeglutenfree.jpg
